Five Steps To Building an AI First Organization

By now, we've all heard about the opportunities, risks, and possibilities of AI, yet there still feels like a lack of direct application to day-to-day work. Every team and organization has a unique process that contributes to its success. AI is a tool to help you do that even better. To successfully build an AI-first strategy for your organization, there are five core steps to ensure everyone is on board and empowered from non-profits, PACs, campaigns, agencies, governments, businesses and more!

1. Upskill Your Team on AI Literacy

  • Train staff not to fear AI but to leverage it: focus on prompt engineering, ethical use, and AI-augmented creativity.
  • Encourage people to share their current understanding of AI.
  • Make AI usage part of onboarding, internal training, and client-facing services (if applicable).

2. Workflow Audit

  • Identify repetitive, time-consuming tasks across each team: creative, media buying, analytics, reporting, finance, customer support, internal communication, administration- you get it!
  • Prioritize use cases where AI can immediately reduce time or costs, focusing on your teams' biggest pain points.

3. Centralize and Structure Your Data

  • Consolidate your data (past campaign performance, audiences, creative assets, survey or polling results, and audience data) into organized, labeled formats.
  • Structured data enables better training of custom AI models, predictive analytics, and personalization tools.
  • Look forward - create a process and program for structuring new incoming data

4. Test and Integrate Practical AI Tools and Solutions

  • Begin with AI tools that are easy to implement and experiment with - start with free and then start with specific tools built for your use case, or work directly with the company to ensure it services your needs.
  • Ensure any tool used complies with privacy and platform policies

5. Operationalize AI for Competitive Advantage

  • Highlight how AI helps you move faster, test more, personalize better—and use that to upsell services and sell the impact of your organization.
  • Transparency is critical. Contracts and conversations should directly mention and involve working with AI.

There will be more resources coming on each one of these steps so stay tuned.
