"How do I get started with AI?"
It’s like anything else: you need the right tools, and you need to be willing to just try… even if you fail.
Here are three steps on how folks in the political world should begin and what tools to use:
Step 1: Just try it
Explore the fundamentals - and what you may already be using. If you haven’t yet, experiment with AI chatbots like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Perplexity. Ask questions. Summarize a document. Analyze polling or reports. This hands-on approach will quickly show you both the capabilities and limitations of these tools.
Step 2: Automate the repetitive
What’s taking up your time? Look at your current tools, workflows, data, and tech stack. Then explore AI options to handle the tasks that slow you down — from note-taking and content variations to coding, reporting, calendar scheduling, and email follow-ups.
Step 3: Customize
If you’re hitting limits with off-the-shelf tools, connect with the company or team to explore customizations or integrations tailored to your needs. Try building with platforms like Replit or Loveable, but unless you plan to spend all your time in product development, only build from scratch if there’s no existing solution that fits.
So what are you waiting for? Let’s go!
To truly drive results and lower your Cost-Per-Action (CPA), you need to go beyond who you’re reaching and focus on what you’re saying and how often.
